How to design a Mediterranean terrace
Natural materials, earthy colours and shady corners: our tips for a terrace you'll enjoy all year round.
On the Costa Blanca, the terrace is a true living space. It's where you have breakfast, dine late in the evening and welcome friends. A few simple principles will make it your favourite spot.
1. Choose materials that love the sun
Teak, woven rope and rattan-effect resin withstand UV and sea air while keeping a natural look. Pair them with water-repellent cushions in sand, ecru or terracotta tones.
2. Create several zones
A dining area around a large table, a low lounge for aperitifs, a single armchair for reading: defining uses makes your terrace feel bigger and more welcoming.
3. Think about shade
Cantilever parasol, shade sail or a pergola covered with reed screening: shade is essential to enjoy the outdoors in the hottest hours.
4. Take care of the details
Large terracotta jars, potted olive trees, lanterns and outdoor rugs instantly bring Mediterranean soul. In the evening, add plenty of soft light sources.
